What is the Youth Options Guarantee?

The Youth Options Guarantee is a set of arrangements put in place by those organisations that are signatories of a Memorandum of Understanding in each LLEN in the Grampians Region. The aim of these arrangements is to support young people to remain in engaged in education and training until they complete Year 12 or equivalent qualifications.

There are four key elements in the Youth Options Guarantee:

Inclusive education provision
  • a broad range of programs to engage young people in learning so they complete year 12 or an equivalent qualification
Early supportive intervention
  • assistance for young people identified as potential early leavers to try to prevent early leaving
Transition support
  • support for early leavers as they move to, and between, other education and training providers or to employment with structured training
Support to assist reintegration
  • support for early leavers, who wish return to formal learning and who may need special assistance.

These are underpinned by an integrated support and referral system developed within Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs) areas.
